Patient Rights and Responsibilities
 

Parkway Regional Hospital respects the rights of patients, recognizes that each patient is an individual with unique health care needs, and provides respectful, considerate care focused on each patients’ individual needs.

Patient’s Rights include, but are not limited to:

  1. Knowledge of the names of the physician who has primary responsibility for coordinating care.
  2. Receipt of information from physician about your illness, treatment and prognosis in terms you can understand.
  3. Receive as much information as needed to allow you to give informed consent or to refuse treatment.
  4. Participate actively in decisions regarding your care and treatment.
  5. Full privacy concerning your medical/surgical program.
  6. Confidentiality as it pertains to all communications and records of your care.
  7. Reasonable response to reasonable requests you make for service
  8. Refusal of service, and right to leave the hospital, even against the advice of your physician.
  9. Reasonable continuity of care and to know in advance the time and location of follow-up care.
  10. When appropriate, all patient’s rights apply to the use of family and/or surrogate decision makers who may have legal responsibility to facilitate care decisions on behalf of the patient.
  11. Be informed on the mechanisms for reporting a grievance to the Patient Advocate during regular hours, or to the Nursing Supervisor outside of regular hours. We support and will assist the patient in accessing protective services, when needed. The patient has the right to file a complaint with the state suryey agency by contacting Administration where a list of names and phone numbers will be provided.
  12. Be informed on the policy for withholding or withdrawing life support by asking your physician.
  13. Be informed of Parkway Regional’s organizational ethics statement in regards to respect for you as a patient.
  14. Be informed of any restrictions of visitors, mail , phone calls, or other forms of communication which might affect patient care.
  15. Receive care in a safe setting, free from verbal or physical abuse or harassment.
